Rams Release Bulger; Clear the Path to Draft Bradford

The St. Louis Rams yesterday released their 33 year old starting quarterback Marc Bulger, all but solidifying Sam Bradford as the #1 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Bulger would have earned $8.5 million this season under the six-year, $65 million contract that he signed in 2007. He was the Rams starter for eight seasons after taking over for Kurt Warner. Bulger will certainly land somewhere, Oakland, Chicago, and Buffalo are the front runners in my opinion to land him.

For a franchise to be successful in the NFL, a team needs a stable owner, a head coach, and a quarterback. Without these 3 positions being filled with stability, a team has no chance to succeed. The Rams will have 2 of the 3 if they draft Bradford. The Rams ownership situation is still a little iffy as the draft looms, but with Steve Spagnuolo and Sam Bradford, they will be headed in the right direction on the field to building a consistent contender.
