Tiger Woods today granted a five minute interview to ESPN's Tom Rinaldi in Orlando, the first since he crashed his SUV in his driveway last Thanksgiving. You can watch the entire five minute interview here.
Tiger once again refused to answer questions regarding what happened on Thanksgiving night at his home where he crashed his SUV. He still contends the events surrounding Thanksgiving night are between he and his wife. That just does not add up to me. Crashing a car and having affairs with several women are two distinctly different issues. If they are one in the same, then I would assume that Tiger Woods crashed his SUV after getting into a dispute with his wife after she confronted him about having extramarital affairs, something Woods denied happened in his press conference a couple of weeks ago. If they are not one in the same, then I believe Tiger's problems stem deeper than sex addiction. I do not care about the women Tiger has slept with and the motives he had to sleep with them. That stuff is for The View. What matters to me and golf fans is to why he's been away from the game for 5 months.
It has been reported that Tiger underwent treatment for sex addiction at a rehab facility in Mississippi. Quietly, the National Enquirer has also reported that Tiger Woods sought treatment in Arizona for substance abuse of prescription medications after he finished rehab in Mississippi. You can read that story here. In the police report, it was cited that Tiger's wife Elin turned over two prescription drug bottles to police officers at the scene. This along with the fact that Tiger declined to be interviewed by the Florida highway patrol after the accident is more than enough evidence to me that something else is going here.
The events of the past several months do not add up. If you ask me, I believe that Tiger Woods has a problem of abusing prescription medication, which may or may not have possibly lead to other inappropriate actions in Tigers life. But we don't know, and that's the problem. Tiger again controlled this press conference by limiting the time to five minutes. No time for follow-up questions, and no time to get deep into certain issues the public wants to hear about. Tiger again had the opportunity to set the record straight and put this entire thing behind him. Instead it continues to drag on as the Masters gets closer and closer. And that is something I would not want to be hanging over my head as I play the biggest major championship of my career.

Tiger Woods to make return at The Masters
Tiger is back. He will return next month at The Masters. This will be Tiger's first tournament since his accident and subsequent fallout from last Thanksgiving.
The choice makes total sense from his standpoint. TMZ and the like do not have credentials to the Masters and won't be there to hound Tiger with questions not pertaining to golf. He may get some non-golf questions from the regular golf media but nothing that will make Tiger uncomfortable.
The fans are another distraction Tiger must face on his return. Another advantage for him in choosing the Masters is they are strict about golf etiquette. They will escort off the grounds anyone they deem is disrupting either other fans or the players. This is something only done at Augusta and no other PGA tournament or USGA tournament. No one will be yelling in Tiger's swing or chanting any obscenities. The following clause appears on the Masters website:
"In golf, customs of etiquette and decorum are just as important as rules governing play. It is appropriate for spectators to applaud successful strokes in proportion to difficulty but excessive demonstrations by a player or his partisans are not proper because of the possible effect upon other competitors."
"Most distressing to those who love the game of golf is the applauding or cheering of misplays or misfortunes of a player. Such occurrences have been rare at the Masters but we must eliminate them entirely if our patrons are to continue to merit their reputation as the most knowledgeable and considerate in the world."
Tigers return will do wonders for ratings for The Masters, which always usually have high ratings.

Buy or Sell? Tiger Woods' Apology
Updated Feb. 19 12:15 P.M.: Instead of shedding some light into what he has been doing the past 2 months, Tiger Woods started the blame game in his statement this morning. He blamed the media for relentlessly pursuing his wife and children. Now I do not agree that his wife and kids should be harassed because of what Tiger did, but Tiger caused more damage to his family than the media could ever do. Tiger is in no position to blame anyone but himself. Had it not been for Tigers actions, he would not have put his family in that kind of situation. No one is at fault but Tiger. Not his wife, not his kids, not his mistresses, not the fans, and not the media. Just Tiger.
Tigers deficient apology today left me and I'm sure a lot of people scratching their heads as to why here and why now. We learned little to nothing about the past 2 plus months of Tigers life. He did say that he has been in therapy, but not for what. He read an insincere, prepared speech that everyone knew he did not write and I'm sure if you asked Tiger he would honestly say he probably would rather not give. It was total PR damage control that probably did more harm than good.
What would have been better for him to do was make a brief statement and apology followed by a brief question and answer. The best thing is you could have prearranged the media and even the questions you wanted asked. No one was forcing him to do this. This is not a PGA Tour event where he must sit down and answer questions from the golf media. He could have answered or not answered anything he wanted. Something unprepared and from the heart would have gone over much better. And anyone who says that Tigers' apology today was "sincere" and "from the heart" was not watching the same press conference the rest of us were. You couldn't get any more insincere than that.
So do you buy or sell tigers apology? Comments...

Tiger Woods is scheduled to make a statement on Friday to lay out his future plans and to make a formal apology. He will not answer any questions from the small media that will be in attendance.
Sounds like he will do what Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee did when they went back and forth with each other about Clemens' steroid use.
Lets hope Tiger will shed some light into his life between Thanksgiving and now, and hopefully he will announce when he will return to golf.
I'll have more after his statement Friday

Where in the World is Tiger?
We have not seen or heard from Tiger Woods since the day after he crashed his Cadillac into a fire hydrant and then a tree in his driveway in Orlando on Thanksgiving. Where hes been since that time is anyone's guess.
Is he out of the country trying to repair his marriage with his wife and his relationship with his kids?...I sure hope so.
Is he on his yacht "Privacy" circling the Caribbean Sea for the past month plus with a bunch of beautiful women?...Possibly
Is he hiding out in the Oheka Castle on Long Island gaining his thoughts and planning his next move?...Probably not
Whatever Tiger is doing, he is contemplating some very important and difficult decisions about his life. When will he return to the sport he has dominated for the past decade? And when he does return, will he be a more open and accessible Tiger Woods?
From my perspective, no matter what he does from now until he retires, he has lost all of my respect. In a press conference years ago, in reference to his personal life, Tiger responded with "you know me." No Tiger, we don't know you. We know nothing about you. All we know about you is what we see on a weekly basis between the ropes on the course. What we all thought we knew about you shattered in the days after Thanksgiving when one woman after another came out admitting their affairs with the man.
Now I have no idea what motives these women had, but I do think we all know what motives Tiger had. I will leave those motives unsaid.
So the question still remains, whats next? Many, including me, have said that he needs to be out their on the course playing in every single tournament he possibly can from now on. But someone told me last month that Tiger Woods has only one shot to repair his life with his wife and his children, and once that shot is gone, its gone and its not coming back. So if he's is out doing that, I would understand. But if he is doing anything other than that, it is a big mistake.
So here is the question, where in the world is Tiger?
